COED-Y-DINAS AM


Very quiet morning with sightings of Blackcap, but very little to brighten up a rather dismal morning.
Pleased to manage a couple of images of this Magpie feeding on some ripe Elder berries, I find Magpies very difficult to photograph as they are so shy. ( 500mm + 1.4x at 1600 iso equiv. very high crop).

Pleased to see a new notice regarding dog fouling and its danger to children. A couple of dogs took to the water two days ago sending many waterfowl away from the reserve.

    did the dogs enter the water by the benches or by the hide?

    The dogs would appear to have entered the water from the footpath/over the bank which leads to the main hide. This is not the first time that I have seen this happen,and you just get verbal abuse from the owners.There has been another incident down at the hide but I am not prepared to make any statement on the blog, it did not involve dogs. Just be careful at the hide and that you have a witness to any statement you may make!! I cannot wait for the Winter!!!
    I also found some 'ladies' prodding one of the entrances to a nesting box 'to see if there was any baby birds inside', this was in the spring.

    Well,the Mink on the reserves will do much more damage than the odd escaping dog. First and foremost,eradicate the Mink from the reserves.
    I see no reason for anyone to take a dog onto the reserve so I'm all for a ban.
