Back to Pwll Penarth

Went To Pwll Penarth, The pond was mostly frozen over with 30 Teal in one open bit but not very active. 12 Snipe on the furthest island, 2 bullfinch outside the first hide.

2 Water Rail decided to show at the shame time so made the quick decision which one to photograph and ended up only getting a flight shot. Typical.

2 Mute Swans tried landing but the ice was to much for them and they headed to the canal.

6 Reed Bunting very active from, seen at both hides.

The Kingfisher made several trips in and was actively fishing for what look like dragon fly larvae

The Second Water Rail came out into the open and managed several shots the sound of the camera did not seem to bother it.

  1. Lovely pictures Phil, glad to see some life at Penarth! I visited a few times over Christmas and there was so little there, either that or my bad luck.

  2. Good stuff Phil - almost went there today but chance of a Goldeneye was too big a draw!
