Woodcock, Coed Pendugwm

Took a snowy walk up to Coed Pendugwm this morning and how blissfully quiet it was too!
December at Coed Pendugwm Nature Reserve
Not many birds seen, a couple of Blackbirds, a Great Tit, a Chaffinch, but then great views of two Dippers on the stream; always a pleasure to see these fabulous birds. Things were about to get better, though, as a little further on I put up a Woodcock! It flew in a wide circle around me, giving me plenty of opportunity to see it, before disappearing into another part of the reserve.

This is my first definate Woodcock, so I am thrilled! I thought I'd put one up somewhere else on the reserve, back in October, but that one was less obliging. It's great to get confirmation that they are still using the reserve.
