Long Mountain.

It was like the 1960's on the Long Mountain today. As I walked along a hedgerow a pair of Whitethroats sang and scolded me, Yellowhammers sat on the telegraph wires, (4 pairs seen in 2 miles), and on a manure heap a pair of Yellow Wagtails were busy with the female collecting nest material. I only ever recall seeing them close to the Severn in the past, so a nice record.
Back at home the local Starlings have done well with a flock of 60-70 birds containing a majority of noisy youngsters, and Spotted Flycatchers are on eggs, while at L. Cyd, the results of the new nest boxes included 3 healthy broods of 12 pulli ringed, together with several smaller clutches of Blue Tits.

  1. Very nice Chris, reckon you must have most of the local Starling population.
