With the warmer weather we have seen significantly fewer finches in the garden, I guess this is down to them being able to find their natural food. Greenfinch number less than 10 compared with over 30 last year, similarly with Goldfinch numbers. Only 3 Redpoll seen on the feeders and not a single Siskin. Plenty of Tits in the garden, perhaps it was a good breeding year for them, with lots of Blue and Great Tits. Coal Tits holding steady (4) with regular visits from Long Tailed Tits (6). We were lucky to have a male Blackcap visit the apple tree, although it didn't hang around for long. We tend to move the feeders several times a year for hygiene reasons, and it looks like they ended up on the Sparrowhawk's hunting path; they like to perch up if they miss their target. They really are a stunning bird!
Have a great Christmas!
