L C Y D.

Awful weather this afternoon. Several Chiff Chaff including this one with horns (?what are they)Pair GC Grebe and 4 snipe of note. 5 Sand Martins flew in as I was leaving.

    The Chiffchaff has 'pollen horns' which it gained from recently foraging for insects and nectar in flowers. The fact there are few flowers in Britain at present means that this bird has almost certainly travelled from further afield - probably the Iberian Peninsula.
