Waxwing @ Newtown 31st Dec

Mark Wilson advises, "nothing at all at the college today, berries pretty much stripped so took a while to find any birds.  Eventually a flock of around 30 birds on Pool Road by the Council Depot although very flighty so if you’re there at the wrong time you’ll miss them!  So numbers much reduced from what seems to have been around yesterday - hopefully the colder weather over the next couple of days may help fix them in position.  These ‘council birds’ are feeding in the wee bushes on the other side of the main road by the industrial units so just a case of waiting and hoping!"

  1. Another great set Mark. What is interesting is the state of the berries, there may be some hope that Waxwings may be interested in the large Rowan berries still on our trees, although some are going a bit brown !
