LCyD Sunday 28 April

No sign of the Cattle Egret in 4 hours yesterday morning, tho perhaps not surprising given how significantly the water level had risen overnight - Hannah must have dumped a load of rain on Pumlumon.  So much so that the Canada Goose nest on the small island in front of the hide had been submerged - opportunistic Coot sorting through the debris! Somewhat bizarrely the lone GC Grbe was frantically building its own next in front of the reedbed and even with the much higher water the Warblers were surprisingly difficult to spot and photograph

    Spent some time at the reserve today Mark. Two eggs on the front island being covered in weed and stone but a pair of Canada, reckon their wasting their time. Moorhen and Coot nesting on reeds in front of hide.
    The Reed and Sedge Warblers didn’t show but heard deep in the base of the reeds. Single Oystercatcher on main island.

    so the water must have gone down a bit then Brian - small island in front of hide completely submerged yesterday
