Celebration time - the bunting is out

A female reed bunting has been a regular garden visitor amongst the house sparrows and chaffinches  for a few weeks now, tempted by mixed corn on the ground below the feeders. But this morning we had a treat, and a 'first' for the garden, when another bunting joined the group -  a stunning male yellowhammer. Long may it continue to visit!

  1. We want both! But we do have a few siskins and redpoll. Fewer than last year though and no brambling either.

  2. Lovely to hear that you have siskins and redpoll Eryl - great to hear from you too!
We've only seen one redpoll and a handful of siskins all winter, and no brambling yet this year.
The yellowhammer is here for the 3rd day today, but so far hasn't brought any others with it. We live in hope!
