Kestrels

Is anyone else noticing more Kestrels around this year? I think I've seen more this year than the previous five, including one flying over Y Figyn common this lunchtime, where I don't recall seeing them before. This was a common bird where I grew up in Oxfordshire, but I hardly ever see them round here. I hope they are having a good year.

  1. A pair raised 4 young on Middletown Hill this summer. Brian Pollard mentioned one on Long Mountain on 4 Oct. But generally we have very few in the county.

  2. Thanks Simon. I've also seen them at Roundton and on the Stiperstones this year, so I suppose the only 'exceptional' sighting was the one I saw yesterday!

  3. 3 seen on ridge above Llyn Mawr. They seem to be fairly constant here every year.
