Dolydd Hafren

This is a combined sightings list from Saturday and Sunday. 4 Water Rail in the reeds (first hide), ~20 Curlew, ~20 Lapwing, ~300 Lesser Black Backed Gull (half by the river and the other half in the fields near the farm), 3 Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe, 5 Teal and of course the thousands of Starlings roosting.

    1. Cheers Mark. They have filled in some of the larger pot holes on the long straight section of the track after the double gates, but everything before that is still rough and very muddy. I gave up years ago taking the car down to the reserve, but I'm fortunate and can just walk to it from the house. I wouldn't risk taking anything but a 4x4 with decent ground clearance down that track as you'd most likely scrape the bottom of a normal car.

  2. Thanks Edd - Not been down there for a few years now since the track deteriorated, shame but the reserve is now a non-starter. Walking from the house not much of an option for me I'm afraid - not least because my left knee need replaced, so I may not even make it out of the village!

  3. Are the hides closed Edd , same as Coed-y-dinas?

    1. Both hides are open. It is possible to socially distance with 2 parties of 1-2 people each in there.
