We've been delighted to see both siskin and redpoll visiting our niger feeders this week - a poor photo but a treat to see this bird this morning, as it is a scarce visitor to our garden. The plant with wilting leaves is the remains of one of several African Yellow Daisy plants, which germinated from last year's fallen niger seed! Last night's frost will have finished it off now, but the yellow daisies have been a treat all summer, and the birds have feasted on the insects amongst the stems as well as on the niger seed itself.
