Recent records from Cors Dyfi

Clare and I spent a wonderful morning at Cors Dyfi, trying out the current 2-hour slot booking system, watching the Ospreys, and catching up with friends and staff. Here are a few recent records passed on to me by Alwyn and Sarah:

Short-eared Owl: a rare visitor here, flying past mid-afternoon on 24 May

Nightjar: first seen 21 May, and regularly hawking moths above the Beaver enclosure at dusk

Barn Owl: making regular feeding flights to young in a box

Cuckoo: singing persistently mornings and evenings, but only 1 male this year. First 23 Apr

Cetti's Warbler: 1 singing all morning close to the Observatory, and present all spring

Grasshopper Warbler: first heard 2 May
