A busy morning at Dolydd Hafren

Glad I decided to make a pre-work visit to DH this morning, although it was difficult to tear myself away. Lots of Bramblings around - there's been a flock of 60+ for a while now, and some of them are starting to come into full breeding plumage, so I guess they'll be gone soon.

The flooded river always seems to make things more active, and today the Curlew numbers were up to 25 from the regular 15 that have been present through the winter. It was nice to see 4 Pintails there as well - a species I haven't seen at the reserve before other than flying over.

The Little Egret numbers are still high - 14 today, a little down from the 18 a few days ago - but no sign of the Cattle Egret that has been hanging around with them. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still around, but I couldn't find it today.

Top for me this morning, though, was fine if distant views of a soaring Goshawk. Always a thrill!
