Swifts in Welshpool and Newtown

Lottie Glover and her team from the Monts Wildlife Trust are doing a great job promoting Swift awareness and conservation in the county. There are two events coming up shortly which all are welcome to attend.

This Thursday (14 July) at 8 pm at Welshpool Tourist Information Centre: a survey of the town, aiming to split up to spot Swift nest sites. If you live in Welshpool yourself and know of any nest sites, it would be great if you could come along, or pass on the details to Lottie, at lottie@montwt.co.uk

Lottie is also running a Swift walk in Newtown on Wednesday 20th July, meeting at 7:30pm at Severn Park Café in the big car park. Likewise, if you live in Newtown and know of any nest sites, please come along or let her know. The evening in Newtown will be more of a walk around than a survey, but we will record any nest sites or screaming parties we do see.

If you know of any Swifts nesting near you, please let Lottie know. We are trying to collect as much data as possible about nesting sites this summer. If you have any questions about Swifts, or the Swift work MWT are doing at the moment, please get in touch.
