Clywedog's secret

Many thanks to John Williams for spilling the beans! I have known for a month or so that a second pair of Ospreys have successfully nested on the shores of the lake, but John has just made the information public. Read his full story here: https://johnwilliamswildlifeandlandscapephotography.wordpress.com/2023/09/06/something-really-special-happened-on-llyn-clywedog-this-year/?fbclid=IwAR3nOZ965MCgMeCkE6TMGqLulDH99GncMK1q8tNlF9scv_BzZ5Y6n-EtUdM

There was one female chick, 7B9: here is John's photo of her. Her mother, Blue Z5, is a 2020 bird from a nest in North Wales, and is the daughter of Tegid Z1 and granddaughter of Monty at the Dyfi Osprey project. She is the first known Welsh-born female to be breeding in Wales. The father is unringed. The family has all now migrated.

On the subject of migration, I am signing off for the rest of the month. I have an appointment with the Birds of Paradise in West Papua. I will acknowledge any records, photos, mysteries, etc when I return, refreshed I hope!
