Severn @ Caersws
With the river nice and low it was good to explore some new territory downstream of the bridge today. Highlight for me was a pair of Little ringed plover busy pairing... also a pair of oystercatcher, 4 or 5 Teal, Goosander, Snipe, Kestrel and a couple of spectacular Sand martin colonies. Also a flock of around ten finches on the gravel bank which I should of payed more attention to, because I can't now be sure if they were Linnet or Redpoll...? NB. A passerby mentioned that an Osprey had been sighted over Caersws last week, so eyes to the skies...
