New years day birding.

Managed to pop out for a few hours on new years day to get the new years bird list off to a start. Despite not seeing a lot, I did manage a couple of good species including Golden Plover, Lapwing, Woodcock, Sparrowhawk (a fine adult male in the garden several times), Siskin (at least 50 now feeding in the garden), and this stunning little Jack Snipe which was trapped and ringed early in the morning.
