DOLYDD HAFREN

A couple of hours there this afternoon wasn't quite what i was expecting , weather turned out to be a lot cooler and quite overcaste. But still a usefull two hours spotting. A large number of geese present, mainly Canada 300+but in with them where 2 Greylags, 18 Pink footed and 1 White fronted,Curlews 40+ moved around not settling in one place. 2 Mute Swans seen from the second hiide but almost mist 3 Whooper Swans (2 adults 1 juv.)That came out of the backwater straight across from the second hide before returning there a minute later.  Birds also seen were :-Cormorants, Lesser Black Backed Gulls, Mallard, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw,Rooks, Magpie, Kinfisher, 2 Buzzards (1 with a kill on the far bank right hand side of the second hide), Linnet,Chaffinch,Greenfinch, Blackbird, Great tit, Blue Tit were seen on the tree tops in and around the seed field,And when walking back to the car park 3 Jays ( Is'nt there a good number about this year), a Sparrow Hawk  and in the tree next to the gate from the car park a Raven was in the topmost branches and a Barn Owl took flight from lower down the tree, So busy looking at the Raven did'nt notice the owl till it took flight.Driving back up the lane (I wish we could do something about the holes, some getting quite deep now) another Sparrow Hawk and the usual number of head banging Pheasants...
