In the garden
Managed an hour in the garden during my lunch break. There was a flock of around 50 Fieldfare flying around Montgomery today, stopping off regularly in the garden. Plenty of Starling, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Tits, and even a female Bullfinch made a welcome appearance. Toward the end of the hour, the atmosphere quietened, eerily so for such a cold day where food is vital, a glance of the neighbours Willow tree revealed the answer, a stunning male Sparrowhawk (manual focus as it was taken through two trees followed by a heavy crop).

Lovely - what a great day it was - one of my best!! Other than breaking my hide.......
ReplyDeleteWhat a day indeed! Broken hide? I'm guessing the wind or a mad dash to get a picture?
ReplyDeleteNope - just a rubbish design (or I'm too fat for a 2 person hide!), one of the legs sheared. And this is a replacement for the previous one that also broke - Mr Angry is beginning to emerge!
ReplyDeleteIs it a Stealth Gear hide by any chance? I use the 1 person version, the first one I had, the bolt connecting the metal strips (the ones that give the hide its's shape )to the chair was sheared, and this was on delivery. The second one is still holding, for now. Its a shame it broke, they're great for getting shots round the garden.
ReplyDeleteyep it is - first one same as yours, the bolt off the arm sheared. I moaned and they gave me a replacement - 16 months later one of the struts under the seat sheared where the bolt runs through - weak point I guess. Not impressed so may look elsewhere, but will plan on causing lots of trouble first!!!
