Keri Ridge

Keep going up Keri Ridgeway in hope of finding Crossbills or some of other birds often mentioned on this blog. Only ever seen Mistle Thrush and chaffinch. heard Coal Tit. Maybe I'm in wrong area,please advise best areas.  Mistle Thrush from yesterday.

    It can be very hit and miss up there. Anywhere can be good, but equally everywhere can seem bird less! At this time of year the field with the Kerry Pole can be productive, keep an eye out there for Golden Plover, Wheatear and even Ring Ouzel. The clear fell areas with lots of regrowth are good for Willow Tit, Bullifinch and Warblers (when they arrive). Crossbills can be anywhere, try and familiarise yourself with there call. Calm sunny days are best for birds of prey.
