Blackcap in Middletown

A surprising visitor to our garden this morning was a male Blackcap, our first winter record for many years. According to the superb new Birds of Shropshire Atlas (Leo Smith for the SOS, Liverpool University Press, 2019), our wintering Blackcaps are mostly German and Belgian breeders.
